When you make an enquiry, I collect:

This information is used solely to respond to your enquiry and, if appropriate, provide a quote or further details about my services.

If we work together

If you instruct me to carry out work, I may also collect:

  • A postal address (for invoicing and tax records)

  • Files and materials required to complete the work

 

This information is necessary to fulfil the contract between us and to meet my legal obligations.

How I use your information

I use your personal data only where there is a lawful basis to do so, including contractual necessity and legal obligation.

I take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data.

Data may be stored using the following services:

  • Wix (website hosting): password-protected, SSL-encrypted

  • Microsoft 365 / OneDrive: password-protected file storage

  • Microsoft Exchange: password-protected email communication

 

Access to data is restricted to me only.

How long I keep your data

I retain personal data only for as long as necessary.

  • Client records may be retained to support repeat work

  • Financial records are retained in line with HMRC requirements (currently at least five years after the relevant tax year)

 

You may request deletion or correction of your data at any time. Where I am legally required to retain data, I will explain any limitations before acting on your request.

Data sharing

I do not share your data with third parties, except in the following limited circumstances:

  • Where required by law (for example, an HMRC audit)

  • Where you have given written permission

 

If you provide a testimonial, I will publish only the name and details you approve.

I do not discuss client projects publicly or on social media without permission.

In rare cases, and only with your consent, I may recommend another editor or subcontract work to a suitably qualified colleague. In such cases, only the minimum necessary information will be shared.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Access your personal data

  • Request correction of inaccurate data

  • Request deletion of your data (subject to legal requirements)

  • Object to or restrict processing in certain circumstances
